A good quality and reliable variable voltage, stabilised power supply that is ideal for the hobbyist or professional laboratory use. The circuit features short circuit protection, variable DC voltages from 3-30V and a rated output of 2.5 Amps which is sufficient for many applications.
The circuit is based on a tried and tested design that comprises a bridge rectifier and smoothing stage that feeds an LM723 voltage regulator IC that is used to drive a Darlington pair formed using two power transistors, namely a BD135 and a 2N3055.
The kit comes complete with a large pre-drilled heat sink and you just need add a 24Vac / 3A transformer (not included).
FeaturesProduct selection advice: Please ensure the equipment under power draws less current than the power supplies maximum rated current detailed below (do not rely on equipment rating specifications as they are often incorrect). We recommend that the power supply is rated at least 20% above the equipment to be powered so it can handle current surges, etc.
