This passive infra red (PIR) motion detector circuit uses a PIR sensing element, movement detector IC and light dependent resistor (LDR). It provides an optimised circuit that will detect motion up to 6 metres away and can be used in burglar alarms and access control systems.
The user can adjust Daylight Sensitivity, PIR Sensitivity and On-Time by means of three onboard trimmers. A 30 second Exit Delay is available via the Toggle Output. The Output can drive small DC loads (up to 50mA) like a bell, buzzer, siren or relay board (e.g. Order Code 8043 or 1168 or 3141), opto-coupler (e.g. MOC3021), etc.
The PIR sensor and Fresnel lens are fitted onto the solder side of the PCB. This enables the board to be mounted inside a case with the detecting lens protruding outwards, whilst still allowing easy access to the controls inside the case.
Please note that the KC778B Movement Detector IC is now a COB (Chip-On-Board) format already fitted to the printed circuit board and therefore does not need to be soldered. The other components remain through hole.
