Feature packed non-volatile 120 second multi-message sound recorder module using a high quality ISD17120 byWinbond. Standalone operation using just six onboard buttons or the onboard SPI interface. Record using built-in microphone or external line in (best results). Speaker and analogue AUX outputs. Wide 8-24 V dc operating voltage. Adjustable sampling frequency.

These chips are designed for operation in either standalone or or SPI (microcontroller) mode. This kit provides interfaces for both.

Onboard buttons for RECORD, PLAY, VOLUME, ERASE, FORWARD, RESET and slide switch for LINE/MIC input selection. Solder pads allow easy connection of your own external volt-free control buttons for RECORD, PLAY, VOLUME, ERASE and FORWARD.

Multiple Recorded Message Operation:

  • Press and holding Play button down plays all recorded messages in a sequential loop until Play is released
  • Pressing Play during playback stops playback
  • Forwarding to a different message will override the currently playing message

Single Recorded Message Operation:

  • Press and holding the Play button down plays the message on a loop until Play is released (there is a 1 second pause after each loop)
  • Pressing Play during playback stops playback
  • Pressing Forwarding restarts playback from beginning

The sampling frequency of each chip can also be adjusted from 4 kHz to 12 kHz (240 - 80 seconds) with an external resistor, giving greater flexibility in duration versus recording quality.

Recordings are stored in on-chip Flash memory, providing non-volatile storage when power is removed. The audio data is stored directly without digital compression, which provides better quality voice and music reproduction. About 100,000 record cycles can be performed.
