Frequently Asked Questions - Here
are a few of your frequently asked questions answered:
"Why are your bugging devices not in a box?"
Here are a few of the reasons:
-
It saves you money
-
a box does not enhance performance
-
a box makes the bug bigger and harder to hide
-
It means you can afford to "loose" a £15 bug in the field. Would
you want to loose a beautifully boxed bug that does the same job but
costs £150?
"Why are your prices so low; are they inferior quality?"
Well, you would expect that spending £150 on a bug would give you
a high quality product. Quite often you are just being taken for a ride
and inside the packaging is a circuit not much different to ours. We just
dispense with all the fancy packaging and sell you a very reasonable quality
product at a very reasonable price.
Transmitting Frequency - All transmitters
operate in the 88 - 108 MHz waveband so all you need is a standard FM radio
to receive the transmissions. The actual transmitting frequency is easily
altered by the user using a small screwdriver.
Our 'MMTX' Micro-Miniature 9V FM Room Transmitter
has been designed to operate at the 'less busy' top end of the commercial
FM waveband and also up into the more private Airband.
Transmitting Distances - Transmitting
distances quoted are those you can realistically expect to obtain. We do
not quote theoretical distances like many of our competitors do. Theoretical
distances assume a clear line of sight (normally buildings/hills are present),
ideal weather conditions (quite rare in the UK!) and the use of top quality
receivers costing many hundreds of pounds (most of us would us a standard
FM radio to receive the transmissions). So beware those who claim impressive
ranges for their products. You will more than likely be disappointed. Of
course, if you can operate under ideal conditions you are likely to receive
greater ranges than those quoted by us.
Please note that transmitting distances quoted for any transmitter cannot
be guaranteed. The results you obtain depend very much on the sensitivity
of the receiving FM radio, what buildings and other obstructions are between
the transmitter and receiver, atmospheric conditions and other radio transmissions.
General Information - All room transmitter
kits are supplied with a high sensitivity electret microphone and battery
holder/connectors where required. All kits use standard battery sizes (not
supplied).
Legal Notice - N.B. The radio transmitters
detailed herein are not licensable in the UK and the telephone devices detailed
herein are not BABT approved for connection to telecommunication systems.
Please refer to the legal notice concerning
operation of these devices.
Kit (KT) or Assembled (AS)? - The
KT order code products are supplied in kit form. The AS order code products
are supplied with ready assembled and tested. (Most of the pictures on our
website show products in the ready assembled format.)
