This
solid-state design wind speed meter (anemometer) uses ultrasonic techniques
and has no moving parts and does not need calibrating. It is intended for
sports-type activities, such as track events, sailing, hang-gliding, kites
and model aircraft flying, to name but a few. It can even be used to monitor
conditions in your garden.
The probe is pointed in the direction from which the wind is blowing and the speed is displayed on an LCD display.
It is based on the project published in Everyday Practical Electronics. We have made a few minor design changes (see documentation for details).
